Frequently Asked Questions

Safety Camera FAQ's

1. I have a notice when I start my satnav that says my speed camera trial only has x number of days to go?
If you have just purchased a new system then you will need to register for your free six month safety camera trial. If you have already registered and you have had the system for a around six months, then you will need to buy a subscription to continue using the safety camera software. Click Here to purchase a safety camera subscription.

2. Occasionally I get an alert for a safety camera that is not on the road, why?
The safety camera alerts work by scanning an area in front of the car (in the software) looking for cameras on the road network. If you have the alert time set at 15-20 seconds then you could receive more alerts for cameras that might not be on the road that you are travelling along. You can set a lower alert time by going to 'setup', then 'safety cameras' and setting the alert time to either 5 or 10 seconds.

3. Why cant I log-in to my speed camera updates on the web site?
BBNav and ProNav navigation systems come with a six month free trial to use the safety camera software. They do not come with six months of free camera database updates. When you subscribe to get the six month fre trial, you only have one month to download the safety camera update tool, after a month the your account is closed and you can no longer log into the safety camera website?

4. I have received an email saying my account at Navevo has expired and I  have only just signed up, why?
This is an automated email notice that is sent when the one months access to the safety camera site has expired (see no. 3 above). Provided you downloaded the six month free trial update pack and installed it on your system then you will have your six month free trial. To check if you have a free trial for six months, start navigator, go to 'setup', then 'safety cameras', then 'view info' and the expiry date will probably be in about 5-4 months meaning you have your six month free trial activated.

5. There are safety camera missing in my system that are on the road?
New cameras are going up all the time so purchasing a monthly update pack is the best way of ensuring the data is up to date. Click Here to purchase a saftey camera subscription. If a camera is missing that you beleive has been there for quite a while (over one year) then please contact us at support@navevo.com to report the problem.

6. When I plug in my sat nav to my PC, Windows Vista wont recognise it?
Windows Vista comes with a pre-installed version of Microsoft ActiveSync. For a trouble shooting guide Click Here (opens new web page).

7.After I have installed Microsoft Activesync, I get an error message saying 'Cannot verify the version of activesync on your device', why?
On some laptops and PC's, after you install Microsoft Activesync and connect your sat nav it displays the message 'cannot verify the version of activesync on your device'. If this message is displayed please uninstall your version of Activesync (via Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs) and then download and install Activesync version 3.8. Click Here to download (opens third party site) and select version (build 5004) from HPC:Factor. There is also a good installation guide below the download area and make sure you DO NOT connect your BBNav until after you have installed Activesync.
